NW STYLE CERAMICS

Yesterday, we went downtown to the
Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle.
It was crowded, colorful, fragrant and NOISY!
The show was fun, but...we had gone on a photographic mission.
Taking photos was challenging.
Like the city itself,
the NW Flower and Garden show has grown...
...no, it seems to have (almost) outgrown
the Washington Convention Center since 1989.

I'm Kate, a potter in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest
who makes ceramic 'homes' for orchids and their creative owners.
I was "locally sourced" in Seattle's Mt. Baker community, circa 1962.
Think hydroplane races on the shores of Lake Washington,
and that's Mt. Baker Park.

Seattle is known for it's grassroots DIY hobbit-folk,
who wear plaid flannel shirts,
wooly socks with their Birkenstock sandals,
and keep their love of nature close to their hearts all year-round.

You can be a 'Seattleite' and wear a suit...
because true Seattleites value diversity above all else.
Especially a diverse, thriving bio-culture from the waters of Elliott Bay (above),
to personal garden space large and small.

The Garden Show is always inspirational,
and features examples of high-end landscape design.

"Northwest Design" style architecture and landscape design
began with architect Ralph Anderson, in the 1970's.
The style is known for it's natural, or 'organic' design elements.
NW Style features Pacific Northwest wood and stone.
It's a seamless meeting of modernist influences and local vegetation.

One famous steward of clean water and soil is
Seattle's organic gardening expert, Ciscoe Morris.
Since the 1970's Ciscoe's work on TV, radio and books
has lead others worldwide to adopt organic gardening methods.

Ciscoe is shown here as the subject of our green man sculpture
at the 2019 NW Flower and Garden Show.

Our 'NW Style Ceramics' bring rugged Pacific Northwestern landscapes indoors.
They're unlike other orchid pots on the market.
Unglazed raku wicks water while the
carbon-infused ceramic discourages root rot and fungus.

O-Pots are designed to put the green luster of the live plant upfront,
and provide a subtle, solid support system.

They're available in stock or custom designs @
